Q: How do I put my email account on Vacation/Out-of-Office Auto-Reply?

Note: The Vacation/Out-of-Office Auto-Reply feature of SmarterMail only works with full e-mailboxes. Aliases/Forwarders such as info@mydomain.com which forwards to otheraccount@comcast.net cannot use the auto-reply feature. We recommend using the auto-reply of your destination account (ex.: otheraccount@comcast.net) for this special case.

First go to your webmail account by visiting:

http://webmail.[YOUR DOMAIN NAME]

This will prompt you to login. Enter your full email address and password and click Login.

Move your mouse over the Settings menu at the top of the page and select My Auto Responder.

You will then be presented with a list of the users in your domain. Click the checkbox next to Enable auto responder.

The Limit responses to direct mail only checkbox simply means that only email sent directly to address you are logged into will be auto-responded to by the auto-reply. Note: If you have aliases/forwarders that point to this address, these will not receive auto-reply response if this box is checked. This option is generally left unchecked.

The final checkbox on this page Limit responses to one per day per sender is used if you would like to only send one auto-reply to each sender, regardless of number of emails you receive from the other user.

The Auto-Responder Message tab will now be accessible.

Now simply enter your auto-reply subject, whether the message is html or text and finally enter the body of the auto-reply email that is sent to the user.Note: Selecting the html radio button will change the view to show the SmarterMail HTML editor.

Click the Save button above Options tab and your auto-reply is set up. Be sure to turn off the auto-reply message when you return, otherwise the auto-reply messages will continue.

To turn off your auto-reply message click the Options tab and click the checkbox next to Enable auto responder to uncheck the box.
